World’s Longest Painting Made from Hair

2025-07-25

On June 5, 2025, Arti Verma from Uttar Pradesh, India, created a painting measuring 156 feet in length and 3.4 feet in width using cut hair. After verification by Forbes World Records Certification, Arti Verma successfully set a world record for the "Longest Painting Made from Hair".

When discussing her creative inspiration, Arti Verma recalled the difficult period during the COVID-19 lockdown, when she battled feelings of depression. To relieve stress, she would often cut her hair into tiny strands and stare at them as they drifted away in the wind. It was in one of these moments that a sudden idea struck her—why not transform these discarded hair fragments into art?

On June 5, 2025, to commemorate World Environment Day and the birthday of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Arti Verma completed this one-of-a-kind piece of art. The painting not only features portraits of the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister, but also honors two remarkable women—Vyomika and Sophia Qureshi—who were part of “Operation Sindoor.” Additionally, it showcases several achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

The artwork also portrays a variety of wildlife and birds, symbolizing the theme of environmental conservation. This unique creation is not only a reflection of the artist’s personal beliefs but also conveys a powerful message: protecting nature is a duty that belongs to each and every one of us. Ultimately, through this artwork, Arti Verma hopes to remind everyone—never lose courage.
